Work Weekend

Twice a year, a group of alumnae families, camper families, and CJL friends get together to revel in manual labor by fixing up camp.

Generally, this involves clearing trails, repairing tent floors, and things of that nature, though there are special projects from time to time: adding onto the barn, tiling the kitchen floor, replacing the roof on the kitchen, building rock retaining walls, repairing the dock at the lake, redoing the interior of the staff house…

Basically, it’s a group of people doing their best to emulate semi-skilled labor, having fun, and being at camp.

Join us! All you need is the desire to work, the capacity for fun, and some time: no skill required! (Most of the participants couldn’t swing a hammer before they started coming to Work Weekends.) For further information or to sign up, please contact the CJL office at info@cjl.org

Which Work Weekend?

September 13-15, 2024: Fall Work Weekend is dedicated to general repairs, erosion control, and special projects.

April 11-13, 2025: Spring Work Weekend is when we get camp ready for Parent-Daughter Weekend, though many other projects usually are afoot.

If that doesn’t sound like fun, you might consider coming to Reunion instead!
