Nancy Brim – Director
Nancy first came to CJL as a camper in 1979 and was a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) in 1980 and 1981. She has since served the camp in many capacities – as a counselor, song leader, ropes course director, and CIT director. Nancy has been the camp director since 1994 and is always excited to spend her summers with resilient, confident women who are helping to grow great girls at CJL.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Nancy has a BS degree in Biology from the University of the South and an MA in Secondary Education from San Jose State University. When she is not at camp, Nancy lives in Athens, Georgia, with her husband, Peter Carnell, and cats Jack-Jack and Black Betty, both black cats (Black Betty was born at CJL!). Nancy taught high school chemistry and other sciences before she retired from full-time teaching in 2019. She now teaches science part-time at Foothills Regional High School - Jackson. Nancy enjoys cooking, gardening, and long distance training for breast cancer awareness walks. She and Peter volunteer much of their time in the off-season to CJL, serving on the Camp Committee, regularly attending work weekends, and participating in special projects such as CJL's kitchen floor installation in 2000, pictured here.
